A starry sky shines under the porticoes of Via Rastello.
In a circular pattern, around the motionless dove with open wings and its paws ready to land, a circle of clouds contains, at the four cardinal points, the so-called “cloud angels”: winged figurines supported by fluffy pillows of vapor.
The painting is oriented according to the axis of the arcade, and in this sense explains the double angel depicted on the hypothetical north, while on the left, welcoming those entering under the arcade, the angel-so to speak-west faces the street.
