
You’ve probably seen this coat of arms somewhere before!
It is the coat of arms of the Counts of Gorizia and consists of silver-red bands and a gold rampant lion on a blue background.
This particular one is a detail from a Görzeraltar door, dated 1500-1510 and preserved in Lienz at Bruck Castle. You may not know, however, that a copy of the doors of this altar is also preserved here in Gorizia: they are located inside the castle, but we will not tell you more! It is up to you to find the work!
