Protagonist of the urban regeneration of Borgo Castello thanks to the La Via del BorGO project, Confcommercio Gorizia presents a new issue of the printed periodical produced as part of the PNRR Bando Borghi, dedicated to Gorizia’s summer traditions.
The edition is available free of charge at the Bottega del Cappello in Via Rastello 52, an information and storytelling point set up by Confcommercio Gorizia as part of the project. The new issue will also be distributed with the folders of the traditional Giant Tombola dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul, scheduled for tomorrow – Saturday, June 28 – in Victory Square.
This is the sixth issue of “La Via del BorGO,” whose contents are edited by Caterina Trovato, Angelica Stasi, Lodovica Gaia Stasi and Valentina Randazzo. An edition that follows the first five dedicated to the history of Gorizia and Borgo Castello, Gorizia Christmas, the story of fairs and markets of the past, GO!2025 and the spring and Easter traditions of the area.
Gianluca Madriz, President of Confcommercio Gorizia, presents the new publication, “This issue enriches the narrative that we have been weaving since May 2024, with the start of the activities of La Via del BorGO. A daily commitment that takes shape in our workshop and that just during the summer will see us as protagonists with many initiatives for visitors and citizens. In the meantime, we look forward to seeing you in the store to deliver the new copy of the free press, in which you will also find some tips for dealing with the summer heat.”
Considering all six issues (in both Italian and English) there are 33,000 copies of the free press produced by Confcommercio Gorizia with the intention of enriching and making the city narrative increasingly coordinated. A narrative that so far has generated curiosity and interest from visitors and citizens, so much so that the first five issues were sent for reprint.
Themes, stories and curiosities of the sixth issue – The new issue of “La Via del BorGO” is a trip down memory lane of Gorizia’s summers of the past, including neighborhood festivals, open-air dances, superstitions on the night of St. John’s Day, the tradition of St. Peter’s boat on the night of June 28-29, and community rituals that enlivened the town evenings.
Through testimonials, anecdotes and period pictures, leafing through the printed periodical allows one to relive the lively and convivial atmosphere of Gorizia’s summers of yesteryear. A choral tale that is interwoven with practical advice on how to deal with the heat creatively: from rediscovering cool, quiet churches, to night walks along the Soča River, to summer cultural events. But that’s not all: at the Bottega del Cappello, in addition to a copy of the free press, you can pick up a free postcard with a map of the historic drinking fountains scattered around Borgo Castello and a glass of La Via del BorGO, useful for hot summer days and evenings.
Where to find the periodical “La Via del BorGO” – The free press is distributed free of charge at the Bottega del Cappello, both in Italian and English, as well as in local accommodations and businesses. The story is also articulated on La Via del BorGO’s social media: the invitation is to take a photo with the newspaper under your arm and tag @laviadelborgo_ on Instagram.
