It seems that our history began in 1001; we find evidence of this in an ancient document, a diploma issued by Emperor Otto III in Ravenna on April 28 of that year. Here is the passage in which Gorizia is mentioned:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;In the name of the holy and indivisible<br \/>\nTrinity, Otto III by the grace of God<br \/>\nEmperor Augustus of the Romans.<br \/>\n[&#8230;]by this imperial diploma<br \/>\nwe grant, donate and<br \/>\ntransfer [&#8230;] to the dominion of the<br \/>\nAquileian Church and its<br \/>\nRector the Patriarch [&#8230;] half of a<br \/>\nvilla which in the language of the Slavs<br \/>\nis called Gorizia [&#8230;]&#8221; (&#8220;Villa<br \/>\nquae Sclavorum lingua vocatur<br \/>\nGoriza&#8221;).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><em>P.S. the sphere you see in the image looks just like this document!
